Reimbursement Program Manager, Japan

All the related matters to Japanese reimbursement in reference to Cook Medical products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop reimbursement application strategies for new products in collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g., regulatory, marketing, sales, pricing, product management).
  • Write and submit reimbursement dossiers utilizing Cook Medical internal data and conducting additional research as required.
  • Manage communications with the MHLW (Medical Economics Division) throughout the application review process and respond to their inquiries.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed of the progress of reimbursement applications.
  • Provide reimbursement information to inform market assessments for products in development.
  • Represent Cook Medical within local trade organizations in relation to market access issues.
  • Identify and stay current on policies related to the coverage and reimbursement of Cook Medical products and services within the Japanese health system.
  • Submit responses to surveys from the government or trade organizations.
  • Support the Cook Medical customer, sales, and product management teams in addressing coding and reimbursement inquiries.
  • Provide support to the regulatory and clinical teams as needed.
  • Ensure a sound understanding of, and compliance with, the COOK Code of Conduct and Company Compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree, preferably in a science related discipline.
  • Experienced in writing submissions and communicating with Government agencies (e.g. PMDA or MHLW).
  • High level knowledge of the Japanese healthcare system, including how it is financed, how healthcare providers are reimbursed for their services, how the health system authorities decide what is a covered service, how payment amounts are determined, how reimbursement is applied for, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Japanese procedure coding system
  • Excellent research skills, analytical skills, logical argumentation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Strong knowledge of or interest in medical/clinical disciplines and medical device market.
  • Ability to manage long term projects involving multiple stakeholders.
